An Identity card is not issued for our optical plan.

 

The Plan will pay $500.00 for the family for optical purchased within the calendar year.

Eyeglasses or contact lenses must be prescribed by an optometrist or oculist and contain corrective lenses. Optical will be applied to the calendar year in which the product/service is purchased. Members may use the annual $500.00 allowance for Corrective Laser Eye Surgery or bi-annual eye examinations that are not covered by the BC Medical Plan.

 

Payment will be made on presentation of the following:

 

An ORIGINAL ITEMIZED PAID RECEIPT indicating who the optical purchase is for and the method of payment. If there is another plan involved with a claim, Members must provide copies of this coverage along with the above original.

 

**Please note that receipts that are issued by online suppliers are not itemized paid receipts and are not accepted.

 

**Please be advised that the Plan Trustees have the ability to pro-rate coverage where circumstances warrant.

 

**The last day of payment for optical claims will be March 31st of the following year.

A: An Itemized Paid Receipt is issued by the optical supplier and must indicate the date

     of purchase, the name of the person whom the optical claim is for, the correction of

     the lenses or contacts and the method of payment.
